This course is designed to introduce senior leaders and managers to the concepts behind the Six Sigma approach to improving organizational performance - so that you can make an informed decision on whether or not Six Sigma is something that would make sense to implement in your own organization.
You will learn that Six Sigma is much more then a set of tools for quality managers. You will see how Six Sigma provides a process for prioritizing, selecting, supporting and managing improvement initiatives in all parts of your organization. It doesn't matter if those processes are service, manufacturing, support, administrative or financial - Six Sigma can help make your processes perform more effectively and efficiently.
In organizations that have properly implemented Six Sigma, senior managers serve on a performance council, which has the responsibility for selecting and supporting improvement projects that align with organizational priorities and offer a good return on the investment of time and resources. Those responsibilities and requisite skills are different from those used by members of the performance improvement teams that actually conduct the projects. The team leaders for improvement projects have special responsibilities and skills above those of other team members. Six Sigma offers different training programs for these different roles to help ensure that everyone has what they need to contribute towards successful projects.
This course offers examples of how Six Sigma projects operate within a service organization environment. It also offers suggestions on next steps should your senior management team decide to move forward with implementation of a Six Sigma strategy.
