Wade Mitzel, Consultant
Wade is a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt with a strong background in the healthcare and EMS sectors. He has a passion for transforming processes to improve efficiency and increase profits. His accomplishments include:
- Increasing revenue by $2 million (30%) in a hospital’s endoscopy department
- Reducing cancer patient waits for appointments by 26 days through a new process
- Reducing costs in a family medicine clinic by improving nursing efficiency and eliminating the need for three full-time positions
- Assisting the State of North Dakota in the development of its advanced/basic life support protocols
Wade enjoys teaching process improvement principles to others. He has trained more than 900 people in Lean in a regional healthcare system, with audiences ranging from line-level staff to senior management. Wade is a former classroom instructor of college-level paramedic courses, a licensed paramedic, and a former ambulance service manager. His professional memberships include the American Society of Quality and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Wade has authored articles for health care industry publications, including Emergency Medical Dispatch and North Dakota State EMS Response Times.
