Yellow Belt Info:
Traditional approaches to quality management have had limited success in many types of enterprises - including EMS, fire / rescue organizations and hospitals. In contrast, properly implemented Six Sigma programs have been extremely successful in getting measurable results (clinical, operational or financial returns on investment) on projects that are aligned to organizational priorities. Six Sigma is a project-based approach to choosing, supporting and conducting process improvement projects with measurable results that improve outcomes, make processes operate more effectively and efficiently, and make better use of an organization's financial resources. The Six Sigma EMS Yellow Belt Workshop provides EMS personnel with the knowledge and skills they need to fully participate on successful six sigma project teams - and receive the 'Yellow Belt' level of Six Sigma skills. This workshop is also the first step for those who plan to on for ‘green belt’ certification – the minimum desired certification level for persons who intend to lead six sigma process improvement projects.
Green Belt Info:
Six Sigma Green Belts play an important role in your organization ’s Six Sigma implementation strategy. Green Belts serve as team leaders, facilitators, subject matter experts and data analysts in the problem solving process. Green Belts learn the value of the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) process and how to support each step of the process with specialized tools.
The Green Belt portion of the course includes three full-day sessions that cover:
- Review of the DMAIC process
- Review of basic graphical tools
- Hands-on practice in using basic graphical tools
- Hands-on practice using advanced statistical software tools
- Introduction to teams and meeting facilitation for Six Sigma project teams
You will learn how to:
- Create process flow diagrams
- Create a data plan
- Analyze data using basic graphical tools
- Perform basic statistical tests used to test a hypothesis
- Recognize the stages of team development
- Facilitate team meetings in a manner that maximizes their potential
- Appreciate the meaning and value of several of the even more advanced statistical tools
The course will be held at the Durham County EMS Station 6 / Educational and Support Services Center located at 226 Milton Rd. Durham, NC 27712 and at the Durham County Library Northern Regional Branch located directly across the street.
